KUNCI and FCACheartsJogja cordially invites you to a talk with  Alia Gabres and Bo Svoronos on their active engagement with spoken word art practices. Deriving from poetry tradition, hip-hop culture, postmodern performance, jazz, and storytelling,  spoken word art gains more and more pertinence in the global stage, particularly among youth. This is mainly attributed to its lively interaction between performers and audience, allowing immediate transmission of view and emotions through frank commentaries on issues  shaping/burdening contemporary society.

This event is jointly organised by KUNCI and Footscray Community Arts Center Australia  (http://footscrayarts.com/) as a part of FCACheartsJogja: A contemporary art exchange between people and place. FCACheartsJogja is part of the Australian Embassy –Jakarta’s Arts and Cultural Program 2014. From March through to November, there will be a range of activities across Indonesia including music, dance, sport, textiles, visual art exhibitions, literature exchanges and science and innovation seminars.
